The UltiPanel is special display for the UltiMaker (3D-pirnter), which allows to print from an inserted SD-card directly, so you don´t have to connect the 3D-printer with a computer.
“[…]one could print a file from SD card by having the printer connected to the computer and telling it to print a specific file from the SD card. The idea developed to get rid of the computer. This requires not a lot in hardware. Some pushbuttons to select the files to print. And obviously, some menu system. Sounds like a nice weekend project! Interestingly, that was when it all became serious. Serious, as in work for the day job, eat, work on the Ultipanel, sometimes sleep. Repeat for two months. Withdraw from social interactions.” (“The story of the UltiPanel” by B.Kubicek)

The Cluster Luster is a do it yourself lampshade made out of paper. A cluster constructed of seven different parts in the form of unique stones compose the lampshade. The design is recycled from the „Of Donkeys and Basilisks“ Project for the Vienna Design Week 2012. The flat plan and the construction manual is open source and can be downloaded from our website. This flat plan gets printed on heavy A3 paper by the customer. After cutting out, folding, glueing together the parts and installing the bulbsockets, the Cluster Luster is finished.

The Dovetail Table was specifically designed for the Open Design Pop-Up Store in Graz 2011. As a quote of the carpenter´s trade, the dovetail joint was translated to a metal version and gives the table its extraordinary look.

How to make a grasshopper glow? The Viennese designers BreadedEscalope were successul with ther project INSECT. The idea based on an invitation from OBI (an Austrian building centre) to further develop everyday objects out of their product line in the sense that customers are able to change the original function by themselves. The delicate stick-like components of the lamp are changed into three legs from the floor, they cross elegantly in the middle and finally unfold into a funnel-shaped frame within which the shade is attached. Bead-mouldings, one garden hose, cable binders and two Y connectors for the hose are the basic elements of INSEKT, which is built-up in few working steps.

The Viennese design office BreadedEscalope always surprises with their passion for creating new functions on everyday objects through minimal change. On invitation from OBI the “Wienerschnitzel” Martin Schnabl, Michael Tatschl und Sascha Mikel have developed their first idea for self-made-changes: the childeren’s chair TUBA. TUBA is made from stacked installation pipes that build the basic structure. A meshwork of synthetic strings makes the comfortable organic seat and the seat-back. TUBA can be built-up in few working steps.

Synth
Open: yes
Licence: creative commons

MeeBlip is a hackable, affordable digital synthesizer, made for accessible sound and hands-on control. It can be someone’s first synth. It can be an unique-sounding addition to your music setup, playable with MIDI hardware and software. It can be a synth you open up and modify, learning about sound creation, code, and electronics. Or it can be the basis of new projects and ideas. The instrument is designed by James Grahame, synthesist, aficionado of things both digital and retro, and engineer at Reflex Audio, in collaboration with Peter Kirn and Create Digital Music. We wanted something playable and hackable, and the MeeBlip fits the bill. The MeeBlip’s story doesn’t end when you get it. It’s built to be a community synth. We’re not just releasing code and schematics and calling it a day; the MeeBlip will be supported by Create Digital Music and the MeeBlip community to help get you started with ideas for how to use, play, and modify it.

PAMOYO

Since 2008
Open: yes
CC-licence: nc-by-sa
Material: Fabric

Pamoyo is a green, open source fashion label with Berlin roots that styles and remixes culture, upcycled garments and ecological materials. The designs are shared under Creative Commons license free for everyone to tweak and remake. Pamoyo has existed since 2008 and is led by designer Cecilia Palmer, and engages various creatives that contribute to the collections. We are inspired by both the beautiful and the ugly sides of street culture, online culture, art and human beings. From a love of vintage and expressive left overs of past trends, we upcycle the so-called waste of the consumerist lifestyle: It’s an ode to the preexisting clothes. Style never goes out of fashion. We believe in fashion as something greater than mere trends, and creations that pick up elements and inspiration of the moment to make things that last and weave history.

The Candle Holder is cut out from one single piece of stainless steel. The form is reduced to a minimum. By bending the parts evolves a compact chandelier for daily use. The Candle Holder was designed for standard candles with a diameter of 21mm. To form the base plate and the candle clamp you just have to bend it to the right.
